Buenos Aires to Barcelona on the Viking Jupiter

Flying to Buenos Aires was a long flight, but the sun rise over the Andes Mountains was spectacular!

Shipboard

The welcome onboard show on the 2nd night, included the Captain telling jokes & talking about his background...

an introduction of his executive staff members, ...

and an introduction of the guest lecturers.
A resident historian, a resident astronomer, another historian, and a naturalist--3 British men & me.

There was an astronomer because Jupiter has a planaterium on the 2nd floor of the Explorers' lounge (the 8th deck).
This what it looks like from the top deck.

It's closed most of the time and surrounded by curved walls.

There were several shows over the course of the cruise and some were narrated by the astronomer.

Since there were a lot of sea days, the culinary staff created events. This was donut day.

This was a special seafood buffet, where the fish & shrimp were prepared on the grills.

As we approached Spain, an amazing paella was served up in a pop-up buffet in the World Cafe.

Also, like on Holland America, there is a crossing the equator ceremony for the new crew who ended up in the pool.

The ocean-going birds were part of our entertainment.

I gave 11 presentations. One on Rio de LaPlata was new.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

We were here in 2012 (halfway down that page), #1 in 2020 (halfway down that page), and #2 in 2020.

We took the included tour, which started with amazing and historic underground spaces in the city.

Various wines were offered.

Empanadas were delish...

We walked from there to this space...

where the Tango was demonstrated.

We toured an impressive church.

The stones around this statue are marked with names of people who died of Covid 19.

We had free time in this whimsical and very colorful neighborhood.

An outdoor kitchen

They handle their sausages efficiently by turning a bunch at one time.

Dean chatted with this craftsman with the antique tool display on the wall.

Garbage collection boats were at work.

A local artist who used a trowel to apply paint.
