A parrot invites the folks on the tour into each of the 11 houses..Dori & Aaron all decked out for a charity gala.<< The night before the home tour, Dori and Aaron went to a charity gala.  They'd been working all day on last minute  cleaning and staging of their house.

The tour started at 2pm on Sunday March 2, 2008.  Eleven houses were on the tour and most of the 400+ folks who took the tour walked the route between the houses.  All were within about a six-block area.   Some of the houses fronted the municipal golf course, two were B & B's, but most were interesting historical old Florida homes.

The right side yard now has no lawn and boast a large African string lily. The new landscaping includes a variety of hardy plants in a mulched bed on the left side and a new type of drought-tolerant grass in the lawn area.New landscaping includes new plants and less lawn.

The front room used to be a porch. The front room used to be a porch, but is enclosed now and has an open archway into the living room.  The chest with the pears is just right for this room.

A pen & ink drawingof Dori and Aaron's house.

A local artist created pen & ink drawings of all the houses.  A copy was in the tour brochure along with a write up of the house's history or other stories.  Dori and Aaron have hung the original drawing in the front room on a small wall  opposite side from the chest.

The family photos are displayed in the living room.

The living room feels open with archways from the porch and into the dining room and kitchen.  On the right side the original art deco fireplace is bookended by the only two original windows in the house.  The mirror withe tile frame was bought in Key West.  The sail boat painting on the mantle was purchased on Martha's Vineyard.

On the opposite B&W family photos are displayed above the sofa.  In the center is Dori's great grandfather who lived in Lake Worth from the early 40s until he died in the 60s.  So Dori's ties go way back to this town.  Ginny told this story to any of the people coming through who lingered too long in the living room.

With the dining room's key lime pie colored walls,  it feels like old Florida.  It also sets off the needlework botanicals by Dori's grandmother.

The biggest attraction in this room was the table runner made from beach pebbles glued to a backing.

This cubby hole under the stairs probably used to be where the phone was located. The master bedroom suite upstairs was not on the tour. The stairs are too steep and narrow.

<< This nook off the dining room under the stairs was probably the location for the family phone.  There is an old buzzer there, so people could come running for a phone call.  Times certainly have changed.

The upstairs was not on the tour.  The stairs are too narrow and steep for 400+ people to get up and down.  Dori and Aaron provided a photo of the two areas upstairs, the master bedroom suite.
